Welcome to Second Grade!

Hello Second Grade Families, 

 

I'd like to warmly welcome everyone back to the start of a brand new school year. I'd also really encourage parents to bookmark this page - it's a good place to check every week or so for class updates and information. If you haven't yet received my summer letter, you can follow the link below. 

 

 

I'm really looking forward to meeting students in person on Wednesday, August 31st. In the meantime, parents can send me an email with any questions about the first day of school or beyond. Enjoy what's left of the summer break!

Mr. Lane

I began my teaching career in 2003 at Catamount Elementary. When Catamount closed, I moved to Monument Elementary where I've been teaching second grade ever since.

 

I grew up in Pittstown, New York just across the state line. I attended Tamarac High School and I still live in nearby Eagle Mills, New York. After high school, I earned my undergraduate degree in history in the SUNY system. I graduated from the University at Albany in 2000. From there I went on to earn a Masters Degree in Elementary Education from the College of St. Rose. 

In 2014 I bought an old house (1879) in Eagle Mills with my partner, Meredith Lee-Clark. We were married in 2015 and welcomed our first child Wilbur (pictured) in November 2018. Last fall our second child, Margaret, was born on just the third day of the school year!

 

When I'm not teaching, I enjoy spending time with all of these people in the out of doors. I also enjoy playing mostly acoustic music (guitar and bass) and collecting vinyl records. If you're lucky, you may see me playing music publicly some day with my brother Ben in a band we call The Lane Brothers.
